¥ANG wrote “Madison” during the first pandemic lockdown last year – a pretty dark time, and he wanted to convey the sense of desperation but also the sense of hope and the will to survive of a couple of star-crossed lovers. The lyrics don’t refer directly to the pandemic but as a songwriter the sense of desperation and passion in the song was certainly engendered by it. The Madison of the song’s title is the object of the narrator’s frustrated desire. Can their love survive their desperado barfly existence?

This song is dedicated to the memory of Alan Emptage, recording engineer and owner of One Louder Studios, London where Madison was recorded in 2020. Alan sadly died from Covid related complications earlier this year. He was a great friend and outstanding sound engineer and will be greatly missed.

“Madison” was written, recorded and produced by ¥ANG at One Louder Studios, London. Engineer Alan EmptagePhil Martini on drums, Shimon Joseph on bass, ¥ANG on guitar and vocals. Mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Andy Walter.
