A Deh Pon Dem” a rendition of Rita Marley’s iconic track, by Delphine, marks a significant milestone in her musical journey. Recorded and produced at the legendary Tuff Gong Studios under the expert guidance of Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith, this release by BS World and distributed by Tuff Gong International pays homage to Rita Marley’s enduring influence on reggae music.

Delphine, the French singer/songwriter, who has collaborated closely with Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith since 2018, describes this project as a labor of love. “When ‘Chinna’ suggested revisiting ‘A Deh Pon Dem,’ I immediately felt a deep connection to the song’s message of resilience and empowerment,” she shares. The track features Narado Williams, known for his portrayal of young Peter Tosh in the recent Bob Marley: One Love biopic, adding a distinctive depth to the backing vocals alongside Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith and Sangie Davis.

This release not only celebrates Rita Marley’s legacy but also showcases Delphine’s evolution as an artist within the Binghistra Movement, blending traditional reggae roots with contemporary influences. Scheduled to coincide with Rita Marley’s Earthstrong, ‘A Deh Pon Dem’ being released on the day of this significant event, promises to resonate with reggae enthusiasts worldwide, offering a blend of reverence for the past and innovation for the future.

Delphine’s personal connection to Rita Marley’s legacy extends beyond music. “As someone who was deeply moved by Rita Marley’s memoir No Woman, No Cry and had the privilege of being a film extra in the Bob Marley: One Love biopic, I feel a profound closeness to her and the Marley legacy,” Delphine adds. “These experiences have helped shape my understanding of her life with Bob Marley and have deeply influenced my artistic journey.”
