Bob & Rita Marley Foundation Launches Relief and Rebuilding Efforts Following Hurricane Melissa

Kingston, Jamaica –  In the wake of Hurricane Melissa’s devastation, the Bob & Rita Marley Foundation is standing strong with the people of Jamaica. United by the spirit of #OneLoveinAction, the Foundation has mobilised immediate relief efforts delivering food, clean water, hygiene kits, and emergency supplies to communities hardest hit across the island.

In partnership with Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), Food for the Poor, grassroots groups, and an official GoFundMe collaboration with Jamaican-born UFC World Champion Aljamain Sterling, the Foundation is ensuring that urgent resources reach families in need. These efforts mark the first phase of a longer rebuilding mission focused on roofing repairs, home restoration, and community infrastructure support.

Echoing Bob and Rita’s mission to empower and heal through love and solidarity, the Foundation is committed to long-term recovery. This is not charity. This is the continuation of a movement rooted in music, humanity, and the unbreakable spirit of Jamaica.

The Bob and Rita Marley Foundation team has been actively on the ground supporting relief efforts across the island. To date, we have directly impacted over 3,000 families. On November 5th, in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, more than 2,000 families received support through our partnership with Global Empowerment Mission (GEM). Most recently, the team visited Cave Valley, St. Ann, where a distribution session was hosted at the Cave Valley Police Station. There, over 600 families received supply kits containing food and essential items to help alleviate the ongoing effects of Hurricane Melissa.

“One Love isn’t just a song or a slogan… it’s action! It’s a call to act with compassion and unity,” said Alicia Williams,  Manager of the Bob and Rita Marley Foundation. She added, “One Love in Action means showing up for each other today, and for as long as recovery takes.”
