As Jamaica continues to celebrate the strength, resilience and cultural power of its people, a new patriotic music project, “One Jamaica,” is officially released today as a stirring reminder of national pride, unity and collective identity.

Written during the period of uncertainty surrounding Hurricane Melissa, “One Jamaica” has grown beyond the moment that inspired it, becoming a broader musical statement about who Jamaicans are, where they come from, and the powerful bond that connects Jamaicans at home and across the diaspora.

The song, produced by Paul ‘Patchy’ Wright, brings together an impressive collection of Jamaican voices and music contributors across reggae, dancehall, gospel, lovers rock and cultural music. The project features Marvia Providence, Tarrus Riley, Carlene Davis, Noddy Virtue, Duane Stephenson, Paul Blake, Nadine Sutherland, Antoni Steehl, Tasha T, Glen Washington, Lukie D, AJ Brown, Etana, Stevie Face, Ghost, Kelly Shane, Little Kirk, Jodian Pantry, Daville, Tanya Stephens, Kevin Downswell, Bugle, Agent Sasco, Nesbeth, Lady G, Shanty B, Glacia Robinson, Mykal Rose, Sherieta Lewis, Sherida Sharpe, Adena Myrie, Tommy Cowan, Nikki Burt and Dean Fraser.

The release is distributed by Tuff Gong International, further strengthening the project’s connection to Jamaica’s rich musical legacy and its reach to audiences locally and internationally. In keeping with the spirit of unity and national responsibility at the heart of “One Jamaica,” all proceeds from the song will be donated to American Friends of Jamaica, supporting charitable efforts that contribute to the upliftment and well-being of Jamaicans in need.

For Wright, the project was born out of a need to remind Jamaicans that unity remains one of the country’s greatest strengths.

“I wrote this song during the Hurricane Melissa misfortune. I heard the fear and uncertainty around me, and I felt that no matter what happens, we can get through it together,” Wright said. “Some of the artistes involved initially thought it was a ‘Melissa’ song, but nothing could be further from the truth. This is a Jamaica song; a song for all generations and all times. I want it to inspire dignity and pride among Jamaicans both locally and overseas, and to remind us that no matter where we are geographically, we are, and forever will be, One Jamaica.”

Anchored in the theme “Jamaica Proud,” the song celebrates the island’s enduring spirit, the beauty of its people, and the impact of its music and culture on the world. It also reflects the national motto, “Out of Many, One People,” through both its message and the wide range of voices that came together to bring the project to life.

Recording artiste Noddy Virtue said participating in “One Jamaica” gives him a deep sense of pride and purpose.“As one of the voices of One Jamaica, I feel a deep sense of pride and undeniable satisfaction. To be given the opportunity to embody my Jamaicanness in this moment of ambassadorship allows me to help showcase our national motto, ‘Out of Many, One People,’” Virtue said. “That motto is evident in the composition, the heart and the birth of this song. I believe its message of national pride and unity will serve as a source of motivation for our nation and for generations to come.”

With its message of togetherness, “One Jamaica” connects strongly with Jamaicans locally and overseas, especially as the nation continues to reflect on the values that bind its people together. The project speaks to the shared responsibility for protecting Jamaica’s legacy, celebrating its achievements, and lifting the nation’s spirit through music.

The project is also supported by a strong visual campaign, including social media content and a music video. The creative direction reflects the “Jamaica Proud” message, with artwork and promotional visuals designed to honour the country’s identity, beauty and global influence.
