Tuff Gong International is the oldest independently owned entertainment company in the Caribbean. Based in Kingston, Jamaica, Bob and Rita Marley originally established Tuff Gong as a recording studio and record shop for their own music and fellow independent artists and producers. In the early 1980s, the old Federal Records pressing plant at 220 Marcus Garvey Drive became Tuff Gong’s headquarters as it expanded to include distribution, mastering, and manufacturing of cassettes and vinyl records. Today, Tuff Gong International is the Caribbean licensee for Universal Music Group as well as the iconic Tuff Gong catalog making it the largest distributor of music in the region.
