Written by her and produced by Sangie Davis, this well-crafted song, is expressive and her incredible vocals fit it perfectly.
Other recently released cuts by Mary for Issachar Muzik include “I’m Happy” and “Tune In“ (an adaptation of Gregory Isaacs’ 1979 lovers rock dub) all of which are currently enjoying widespread airplay around the four corners of the world.
Her first solo recording entitled “YOU AND I,” was produced by Geoffrey Chung, followed by several high quality singles and three albums including SO GOOD SO RIGHT and THEN AND NOW both on the Aqua Gem label as well as I WANT YOU I NEED YOU for Maka-Jamm Records with producer Boris Gardiner (this album was recorded under the spelling of Mari Isaacs).
Some of her more popular singles include the reggae cover of Natalie Cole’s “A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN,” a #1 chart buster hit produced by Willie Lindo on the Aqua Gem Label, “MISSING YOU” for Love People Records with the prolific drum and bass duo Sly and Robbie,”TOGETHER AGAIN” produced by the award winning engineer and musician Stephen Stewart and “TREAT ME RIGHT” written and produced by Paul “Jah Screw” Love.
Mary, a dawta of Jamaica, migrated to the United Statesin her early teens. After doing voice training, she joined the popular show and dance band where she gained exposure to a wide range of genres as the lead female vocalist and toured with the group spreading the joy of her music.
She is known to infuse her performances, with expressiveness and sensuality and her voice magic and mastery in live performances have allowed her to grace several renowned stages in Antiqua, Jamaica, Florida, Chicago and the NY Tri-State area, including The Apollo Theatre, Madison Square Garden’s Paramount Theatre, Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and Waldorf Astoria.
In addition to her passion as a songwriter and singer, she is active in various music industry associations in the mission of the preservation of her island’s music. She conceptualized and produces the very successful fundraising concert — Reggae Jazz and Blues Go Gospel Concert –the next staging takes place on October 22 in Jamaica. The proceeds from this concert go towards the St Luke Anglican’s outreach program, offering scholarships to the children of the St Simon’s Community, as well as providing food and medication for street people.
